Dick brings a wealth of experience and skills to his civil litigation practice. He has been a legislative assistant to a United States Congressman as well as the campaign manager for another attorney when he ran for State Treasurer of Illinois. Dick has also been an officer in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. He has been a felony prosecutor. He has been general counsel for a switching railroad.
And Dick has been a trial lawyer and litigator defending insurers, railroads, trucking companies, medical providers, public utilities and landowners. He has successfully handled numerous grade crossing, trespasser, and FELA cases, both traumatic and occupational, for railroad clients. He has litigated and tried cases on behalf of clients sued by individuals and class members in Title VII employment discrimination cases. He has defended municipalities in §1983 cases. He has defended and filed numerous cases under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act. Dick has also handled high dollar personal injury and wrongful death cases for the trucking industry and insurance companies. Dick believes in an aggressive approach to litigation and trials while remaining committed to the highest standards of professional conduct.
Dick has been selected by his peers for inclusion in the 2012 edition of The Best Lawyers in America in the practice area of Railroad Law.
Outside of his practice Dick has enjoyed snow skiing for many years. He favors the Georgetown Hoya basketball team of his alma mater in the winter months but is a "subway alumnus" football fan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the fall. Dick and some lawyer friends have enjoyed many horse pack trips into the remote wilderness areas of the western U.S. and Canadian Rocky Mountains. Dick and his wife Julia reside in a St. Louis suburb. They have two college age daughters.
