Brooks' practice primarily involves the proactive defense of occupational injury cases brought against railroad clients under the Federal Employers Liability Act. Brooks has FELA jury trial experience in the Shelby County Courts in Memphis, Tennessee. He is very actively involved in defending asbestos FELA cases handled by Boyle Brasher LLC as national counsel for a major railroad. Brooks is also involved in the firm's employment discrimination practice. As a result of his prior background, Brooks is also heavily involved in appellate work on behalf of the firm's clients.

Brooks grew up in the Memphis area. He attended college at Tulane University in New Orleans and law school at the University of Memphis. His interests include film, music, and guitar. Brooks is a longtime fan of Memphis Tigers basketball, and he is a vocal supporter of the Memphis Grizzlies and New Orleans Saints. He and his wife live in Memphis.
